CBQF @ The 2008 Kid's & Family Outdoor Expo, Kennewick, WA

May 16 - 17, 2008

The objective of the Expo is to provide an opportunity for young people to experience outdoor activities that they otherwise may not have. The Expo has a strong emphasis on hunting, fishing and other natural resource and outdoor oriented activities. Friday of the Expo is reserved for students in grades 3-8 and their teachers in a field trip format that will require advanced registration and scheduling. GOPAW will be soliciting participation among those public and Private schools within the Columbia Basin, but it is also opened to any school in the state. Saturday is open to the general public. The expo will offer fly tying, fishing casting, firearm safety, outdoor survival, horse manship, compass reading, boating (canoeing and kayaking), bird identification and raptor rehabilitation, and natural history appreciation. GOPAW will engage many regional organizations to make this Expo as big a success as the 2007 Expo held in Longview. Washington State Fish and Wildlife are major supporters of the EXPO. However, we will engage many local organizations to support this expo including the Glacial Floods Institute, Mid Columbia Audubon Society, The Native Plant Society, Richland Rod and Gun Club, Columbia Basin Fly Casters, Friends of Badger Mountain, The Tap Teal Greenway Association, Inter Mountain Alpine Club to name a few.

1st Annual "Eat-n-Shoot" May 24, 2008

Rattlesnake Range, Horn Rapids

The CBQF will have our 1st Annual "Eat-n-Shoot" day out at The Rattlesnake Range May 24th, 2008. Details are still being worked out, but the event will start after 3:00pm, as the range is closed to the public after that time, and should run until dusk. CBQF member Greg Swank & V.P Chad Berg are working out the details of the event. This should be a GREAT event and tickets will run around $25 which should cover 4 rounds of Skeet or Trap. Any combination, but 4 rounds total. Burgers, Hotdogs Chip and Soda will be supplied. NO ALCOHOL ON THE RANGE! Eye glass protection is required, and also ear protection. The 4 rounds will just cover the birds and NOT the shells, bring your own. Greg has informed us that there are some great trap loads that can be picked up for around $6 or $7 a box. Extra rounds of trap or skeet can be purchased at the event. Have any questions, we'll try to address them at the next meeting.
